Purpose
To promote excellence in orthopaedic nursing practice through an endowed lectureship addressing best practices, health policy or clinical research. The lecture will be presented as a 60-minute General Session at NAON’s Annual Congress and offered for publication in Orthopaedic Nursing.
Lectureship Grant
1. $ 2,000.00 honorarium.
2. Recognition in NAON and NAON Foundation publications.
Eligibility
1. Must be a current NAON member.
2. Must hold current licensure as a registered nurse.
3. Must currently spend at least 50% of his/her time devoted to the specialty of orthopaedic nursing.
4. Current members of the NAON Executive Board, NAON staff and NAON Foundation Trustees are not eligible for this scholarship.
Criteria
1. The lecture topic must address one of the following areas: best practices, health policy or clinical research
2. The applicant should address why the topic is innovative, cutting edge, visionary or provocative. 3. Objectives and outline of the lecture to be provided in order for the audience to receive continuing education credit.

The Gigi Viellion Scholarship
Purpose
To advance orthopaedic nursing practice through the integration of evidence-based knowledge into practice. This scholarship is in honor of Gigi Viellion for her long time commitment to orthopaedic nursing, NAON, and the NAON Foundation.
Scholarship
The Scholarship provides $ 1500 -2000 for an Orthopaedic Evidence-Based Practice Project that will benefit Orthopaedic nursing. The Scholarship will cover potential project costs of supplies and project conduction, staff, and statistical analysis. The amount of the Scholarship will be based on needed funding for the project along with other sources of funding identified.

Expectation of Recipients
As a condition of receiving this scholarship it is required, that within 18 months the candidate will contribute to NAON in one of the following ways.
One of the NAON Foundation Trustees will be assigned to support and encourage the candidate through the completion of this requirement.

- Must have a minimum of 3 years in orthopaedic nursing practice
- Must have a minimum of a BSN (required) but a Master’s in nursing preferred
- Must have demonstrated leadership responsibilities for evidence-based practice
- Must select orthopaedic related EBP topic/project
Expectation of Recipients
As a condition of receiving this scholarship it is required, that within 18 months the candidate will contribute to NAON in one of the following ways.
- Present a session at a NAON Congress sharing the EBP project.
- Submit an article on the EBP project for publication in Orthopaedic Nursing.
- Present a poster at a NAON Congress sharing the EBP project
One of the NAON Foundation Trustees will be assigned to support and encourage the candidate through the completion of this requirement.

NAON FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS TO NAON CONGRESS 2024- IN PERSON ONLY
To advance orthopaedic nursing practice, education, research and leadership by supporting the education of four NAON members to attend NAONs annual Congress.
Scholarship
1. FOUR (4) scholarships to attend the 2024 NAON Congress. (In person attendee $1000)
2. Recognition in NAON publications.
Any NAON Congress scholarship may be received only once in a 10 year period.
Eligibility
1. Must be a current NAON member (at least one year member or longer).
2. Must hold a current nursing license.
3. Must currently spend at least 50% of his/her time devoted to the specialty of
orthopaedic nursing.
4. Current members of the NAON Executive Board, NAON staff and NAON Foundation
Trustees are not eligible for this scholarship.
5. Applicant must be able to attend the 2024 NAON Congress.
Expectation of Recipients
As a condition of receiving this scholarship it is required, that within two (2) years of attending Congress the recipient will contribute to NAON in one of the following ways.
1. Chair a workshop for NAON members in the local area.
2. Develop and carry out a research proposal applicable to orthopaedic nursing.
3. Present a session at a NAON Congress.
4. Serve a term as an officer/board member of the local chapter.
5. Serve a term as a contributing member of a national NAON committee.
6. Serve a term as a NAON Foundation Trustee.
7. Submit an article for publication in Orthopaedic Nursing.
One of the NAON Foundation Trustees will be assigned to support and encourage the recipient through the completion of the selected requirement.
Criteria/Required Documentation

4. A statement of which contribution you have chosen to make to NAON.
5. Only electronic submissions will be accepted
Upon selection for a scholarship, a digital head shot photograph must be submitted and permission granted for use of the image in all NAON/NAON Foundation publications / media.
